“We Serve” Feature: A Team Boosting Up Local Food Banks

As part of Floyd Lee Locums volunteerism program, “We Serve,” we encourage employees to partner with people and programs that better the communities we live in.

Recently, though, our team members have outdone themselves, giving in a variety of ways to the charities they’re passionate about. Here’s just a collection of how Floyd Lee Locums employees are showing up across America in their regional communities.

Our very own Business Development Manager Lauren Weatherbee recently took time out to donate to Goodwill in her home state of New York. Goodwill’s mission is to enhance people’s dignity and quality of life by strengthening communities, eliminating barriers, and helping people reach their full potential through learning and the power of work.

In addition, Healthcare Consultant Team Lead Nick Angellotti supported Goodwill in Chicago, Illinois with the whole family. They donated unwanted toys and clothes from their family and neighbors, and as Nick said, “It was fun for us and the kids and helped instill in them the importance of giving back to the community. It was eye-opening to see how much stuff we had collecting dust that would be put to much better use by someone else. We plan on making more routine collections and donations in the future!”

Passionate about animals, our Operations Specialist Laura Bassett recently donated three large boxes of goods to the SPCA of Brevard after moving into her new house in Florida. The SPCA of Brevard, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization with the mission of “protecting and providing a voice to the homeless animals of Brevard County.”

Spreading generosity in her home state of North Carolina, our Manager of Operations Dawn Schaefer donated to the Salvation Army. As she says, “We busily gathered all the great, but unused, things around the house. We had a bit of everything in our haul. But the thing I loved most to donate was all the baby items that are so lightly used or brand new that will now be able to be used by someone who really needs it to make that crazy special time a little easier.”

Our CEO Natasha Lee continued setting a positive example by volunteering with her church, the Coastal Church of Charleston, in South Carolina. There, she’s contributed to their work of sending out two big trucks weekly of food, supplies, and clothes to families that rely on them. “It felt great to give back,” said Natasha. “It was awesome to get my kids involved in letting clothes go that they just don’t wear or, with myself, pieces that I was just holding on to.”

Back in the Northeast, our Healthcare Consultant Shannon Dockery and her daughter Averi volunteered with the Mitzvah Circle in Pennsylvania. There, they serve families walking along life’s edge by providing over 100 products, including clothing, diapers, new strollers and car seats, toiletries, household items and other necessities.
