“We Serve” Feature: A Cancer Warrior Who Won’t Quit
As part of Floyd Lee Locums volunteerism program, “We Serve,” we encourage employees to
partner with people and programs that better the communities we live in. One of our Healthcare Consultants, Leslie Munn, does this in multiple ways with the cancer programs she supports on an annual basis.
Currently serving as the treasurer and secretary for a foundation called The Cancer Relief Fund, Leslie steps up with others to help local cancer patients in and around the Pee Dee, South Carolina area. Regularly, they dedicate their time and efforts to raise money for cancer patients who need things like medications, wigs, durable medical equipment, and transportation to and from treatments.
This fund has been a labor of love for Leslie since its inception over six years ago—and, in fact, she’s one of the original board members who helped it grow to support communities throughout the region. With a long list of successful events under her belt, Leslie has aided the fund in organizing Halloween costume parties, an art gallery fundraiser, and other activities that raised donations.
“I have a strong passion for supporting cancer patients going through such a difficult journey,” said Munn. “Patients deserve and need us all to fight for them, and I will continue to contribute and do my part in any way I can.”
Most recently, her persistent dedication led to participating in the Lung Force Run/Walk this past November. An entire community dedicated to raising Lung Cancer Awareness, the event is committed to ending lung cancer and lightening the burden for people living with lung disease. It also honors the memory of those lost to cancer and lifts up those still needing support.
Supporting events like this just come naturally to Leslie—and isn’t a one-off. Leslie’s history of charity has extended to the Lung Cancer Walk for Roper St. Francis Healthcare, being a part of the Relay for Life in Florence, South Carolina, and starting cancer support groups for those with lung and breast cancers.
Floyd Lee Locums applauds Leslie for serving those who serve others not just at work, but in her personal life. She is truly a cancer warrior raising up individuals and their communities.
