A Love Letter to Locums (During Locums Week)

A love letter to locums…cheesy title? Maybe. But count me among those people willing to layer in a little positive energy to the things I’m passionate about. One of those being: Locums.

Which is why I’m thrilled to join my colleagues at Floyd Lee Locums and the industry at-large to celebrate locums providers during National Locum Tenens Week, this August 8-12. While our company enjoys honoring the incredible people who step into unknown or faraway facilities to treat patients, it’s especially fun to make it official during this week!

To be fair: Locum tenens has seen its fair share of ups and downs these past few years. If you’ve read our CEO Natasha Lee’s “State of Locums,” you can see how our discipline continues to be a key driver in delivering care and treatment to places and spaces across the U.S. But it isn’t difficult to see why when you really dig into the locums lifestyle.

A Chance to Change

For many in healthcare, there have been a million reasons—and seasons—for changes to the way care gets delivered. But, more often than not, things often remain the same. Not so with locum tenens! Did you know locums continues to skyrocket to new heights, with more temporary clinicians in healthcare facilities than ever before in our history? What an achievement.

More Than a Transaction

Evolution isn’t just occurring in the healthcare facilities—but also in the firms that place locums clinicians. Physicians and advanced practice providers expect to be more than a number on a locums company balance sheet. They want to know someone has their back before, during, and after their placement. To that, all of us at Floyd Lee Locums say, “hear, hear!” And it’s reflected in our concierge approach to locum tenens.

Breaking Away from the Burdens

One of the most exciting and best parts of being a concierge locums partner is getting to alleviate the stressors from our providers’ lives. That includes taking on more of the credentialing or licensure steps, so that clinicians don’t have to jump through hoops to secure them. Or, finding placements that limit the amount of administrative or paperwork they have to complete. We love getting providers to the parts of healthcare that reinforce why they joined the industry in the first place: to help others.

Our Wins

I could go on! After all, every provider, facility partner, and internal employee tell me awe-inspiring stories daily of the wins this way of working bring to people and communities across our country. Knowing that, I want to thank everyone who continues to personally move the possibilities of locums forward. Without you, critical care—regardless of where and who it’s delivered to—would be severely limited.

For us at Floyd Lee Locums, that idea is unacceptable. Because for us, it’s personal.
