From the heart: Why we do what we do at Floyd Lee

Like most folks, I stumbled into the staffing industry. I was living in Atlanta as a young 20-something, just beginning my corporate career when a friend referred me to the owner of a commercial staffing firm. He hired me as an outside salesperson on straight commission. I had zero experience, but I was ready for the challenge—terrified and exhilarated at the same time. One of the biggest challenges of my life lay before me.

What I didn’t know then was that God was opening a work chapter that would not only define my career, but would define the careers of thousands of people over the last 30 years.

Finding my niche in healthcare was really the beginning of my story. After growing and scaling many staffing companies throughout my career, having the opportunity to co-found and launch my own company has been the opportunity of a lifetime. As I sit here today writing this note, I am in awe of the clinicians and clients we support every day. Not only did they survive a pandemic with grace and resilience, they continue to show up every day with an attitude of service—knowingly committed to helping their patients be better off, without fail, without a doubt.

There are no truer heroes than those engaged on the frontline of healthcare on any given day.

I look at our history—8 years into this organization—and I have never been prouder of the work that goes into supporting this mission. Our teams work shoulder to shoulder, immersed in connecting with quality talent and working in unison to align with facilities that need coverage. There has never been a greater gap than what exists today, and it’s only going to deepen.

From sending pediatricians and family medicine physicians to rural Wisconsin, to helping a four-county community in North Carolina build out a brand new oncology program, to helping a Native American facility in Oklahoma have access to a general surgeon capable of performing critical surgeries—we are changing the pace at which care is delivered across our nation.

Our work matters because it’s personal to each of us.

When I think about our future, I have never been more certain of the reason why we exist to do this purposeful work. We care so much about showing up and trying to get it right. Every day. The only way forward is through for the folks at Floyd Lee Locums. We are proud to stand with you more than ever before as we lock step, eyes laser-focused on our goal: supporting you on your journey to practice medicine on your terms while helping our hospitals have access to the care they so urgently need.

Thanks for answering the call and allowing us to play some small part in this journey with you. As we review where we are today and where we are going, we are resolute in our mission. To be a $50 million organization with 75 people represents exciting progress. Being one of the fastest-growing locum tenens companies in the country and one of the most celebrated feels pretty amazing. Multiple “Best Places to Work” recognitions through various channels means we have realized our goal of being an incredible organization.
