Practice Details
- Approximately 10 patient encounters per shift
- Average 1 admission per shift
- Average 2 phone consults per shift
- Daily rounding responsibilities
- Cerner EMR
- Inpatient neonatal intensive care setting
Clinical Responsibilities
- Management of critically ill newborns
- Family counseling and support during complex neonatal care situations
- Care of infants with:
- Respiratory Distress Syndrome
- Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR)
- Neonatal Jaundice
- Sepsis
- Other complex neonatal conditions
Required Procedures
- Endotracheal Intubation
- Chest Tube Placement
- Central Line Placement
- Paracentesis
- Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Taps)
- Exchange Transfusions
- Therapeutic Hypothermia (Cooling)
- Ventilator Management
- High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation
- Inhaled Nitric Oxide (iNO) Management
Requirements
- Board Certified Neonatologist
- Neonatology Fellowship Training Required
- Comfortable managing high-acuity neonatal patients
- Extensive NICU procedural experience required
