Practice Details

  • Approximately 10 patient encounters per shift
  • Average 1 admission per shift
  • Average 2 phone consults per shift
  • Daily rounding responsibilities
  • Cerner EMR
  • Inpatient neonatal intensive care setting

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Management of critically ill newborns
  • Family counseling and support during complex neonatal care situations
  • Care of infants with:
    • Respiratory Distress Syndrome
    • Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR)
    • Neonatal Jaundice
    • Sepsis
    • Other complex neonatal conditions

  • Endotracheal Intubation
  • Chest Tube Placement
  • Central Line Placement
  • Paracentesis
  • Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Taps)
  • Exchange Transfusions
  • Therapeutic Hypothermia (Cooling)
  • Ventilator Management
  • High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation
  • Inhaled Nitric Oxide (iNO) Management
