A nationally recognized children's hospital in Illinois is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Pediatric General Surgeon for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity. This weekend call position offers a collaborative practice environment within a Level I Trauma Center, supported by an experienced pediatric surgery team and dedicated advanced practice providers.

Assignment Details

• Setting: Inpatient Children's Hospital
• Start Date: October 1, 2026
• Assignment Length: Ongoing
• Schedule: Approximately one weekend (4–5 days) per month
  • Arrive Thursday evening
  • Depart Monday morning
  • Continuous 24-hour call coverage
• Call: 24-hour call with a 30-minute response time
• EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour pediatric surgery call coverage
• Evaluate and manage pediatric surgical emergencies
• Perform the full spectrum of pediatric general surgery procedures
• Collaborate with pediatric surgeons, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary care teams
• Participate in inpatient consultations and surgical management
• Document patient care using Epic

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Surgery
• Active Illinois medical license or IMLC eligibility
• DEA required
• PALS certification
• Minimum of one year of pediatric surgery experience
• Comfortable performing the full scope of pediatric general surgery procedures
• Team-oriented with a collaborative practice approach
