Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon – 24-Hour Trauma Call Coverage

Overview

A healthcare organization in Western Washington is seeking a Board Certified Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon for a long-term locum tenens assignment. This opportunity combines inpatient Level II trauma coverage with outpatient clinic responsibilities while working alongside a dedicated trauma team in a collaborative practice.

  • Setting: Level II Trauma Hospital and Outpatient Clinic
  • Start Date: September 25, 2026
  • Contract: 6–9 months
  • Credentialing: Approximately 60–90 days
  • Coverage Dates:
    • September 25 (7:00 AM) – October 1 (7:00 AM)
    • October 22 (7:00 AM) – October 26 (7:00 AM)
    • December 23 (7:00 AM) – December 28 (7:00 AM)
    • February 22 (7:00 AM) – March 1 (7:00 AM)
    • Ongoing coverage up to two weeks per month
  • Call: 24-hour call (7:00 AM–7:00 AM) with occasional night call
  • EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient orthopedic trauma coverage
  • Evaluate and manage adult orthopedic trauma patients
  • Perform operative management of a broad spectrum of orthopedic trauma cases
  • Manage fractures and traumatic musculoskeletal injuries, excluding complex pelvic trauma
  • Participate in outpatient follow-up clinic as scheduled
  • Collaborate with a dedicated physician assistant and multidisciplinary trauma team
  • Document patient care using Epic

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Fellowship training in Orthopedic Trauma preferred
  • Minimum of five years of Level II trauma experience
  • Active Washington medical license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) eligibility
  • Active DEA registration (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Case logs and professional references required for credentialing
  • Clean malpractice history preferred
  • Eligible for hospital credentialing
