Anesthesiologist – Hospital-Based Surgical Coverage

Overview

A healthcare organization in Southeastern Pennsylvania is seeking a Board Certified or Fellowship-Trained Anesthesiologist for a long-term locum tenens assignment. This opportunity offers flexible shift options, a broad mix of surgical cases, and a collaborative anesthesia practice working alongside CRNAs.

Assignment Details

  • Setting: Hospital-Based Anesthesiology
  • Start Date: August 10, 2026
  • Contract: August 10, 2026 – April 30, 2027
  • Credentialing: Approximately 90 days
  • Schedule: Day shifts with 8-hour, 10-hour, and 24-hour coverage opportunities
  • Primary Shift: 9:00 AM–5:30 PM
  • Call: Weeknight and weekend pager call; holiday call may be required
  • EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide anesthesia care for a wide range of surgical procedures
  • Perform pre-anesthesia evaluations and obtain informed consent
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia throughout surgical procedures
  • Manage induction, maintenance, emergence, and postoperative anesthesia care
  • Provide anesthesia services for general, orthopedic, endoscopic, gynecologic, vascular, and plastic surgery cases
  • Supervise Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) while independently managing cases
  • Document patient care using Epic

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Anesthesiology or fellowship trained
  • Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology residency
  • Active Pennsylvania medical license
  • ECFMG certification and FLEX documentation, if applicable
  • Experience providing anesthesia for general surgical procedures
  • Comfortable supervising CRNAs
  • Eligible for hospital credentialing
